The Great British Sewing Bee

The Great British Sewing Bee

Stirring the nostalgia in us all, The Great British Sewing Bee has become a great success. This quintessentially English show has inspired a new generation of sewers, including myself to pick up a pattern and get stitching. Sadly only four episodes, the show concluded this week with a dramatic final and a deserving winner. Hold back the tears because a new series is coming, with a fabulous six episodes and for those who missed it do not fret because you can still catch up on BBC iPlayer.

From Claudia Winkleman’s quirky remarks to Patrick Grant’s bum this show will have you intrigued and get your fingers itching to have a go yourself. I was even happier to discover once the show reached the final credits that my favourite contestant Lauren, has set up her own haberdashery shop, with workshops to sign up for called Guthrie and Ghani. Tilly and Stuart also contribute to certain workshops and run their own. In addition Tilly has her own blog on which she sells her patterns called Tilly and the buttons, which I will definitely be bookmarking.

So if you are missing the Great British Bake Off, love sewing, want to find out what all the fuss is about or just learning something new this is the show for you. I have already eagerly awaiting the second series and will let you know how my first attempt at sewing my own clothes goes…
