Fabric Friday – Meadow

IMG_3283

Wow that week went fast and it is Fabric Friday once again…

So today I want to introduce you to one of my newest fabrics, Meadow–PWMW023 tea stained. This fabulous fabric is 100% cotton, designed by Melissa White in her Amelie’s Attic collection for Rowan fabrics and it has a nice weight to it, so it is great for dressmaking and home furnishing. I personally loved the whole collection but the simplicity and detail of Meadow appealed the most to me.

I bought this fabric from my local John Lewis store, which has a large haberdashery section and for me is my closest source for my crafty needs. Also they have a fountain of knowledge and from my experience, have always been very helpful.

Meadow for me, is a perfect summery fabric to use for my latest crafty project of dressmaking. I plan to make a skirt with this fabric, (my first ever handmade skirt) and I will tell you all about how I get on in a blog post soon, but for now here is a sneak peek…

I am using a New Look pattern.

I chose a simple pattern to start with, which is an A-line skirt with the option to do it in different lengths. After watching The Great British Sewing Bee it felt like a good place to start and with summer coming, it is the perfect beginners project.

Laying out the pattern.

Fabric pieces ready to be sewn.

I even have some left over after cutting out the pieces I need, for some smaller sewing projects, perhaps I will use it to make this pretty zipped pouch by sew4home.

Happy sewing!
